Magno Angulo was born in Arequipa, Peru, where he currently resides with his family. A master of his art form, he works from his home bringing life to the insipid canvas. His paintings now belong to collections, both public and private, throughout the world. Due to his prestige, one of Angulo’s paintings was presented to Pope John Paul II as a gift from the people of Arequipa on his visit to the city in 1985. Magno Angulo, enthusiastic and versatile, transitions effortlessly between figurative themes and landscapes to the fascinating world of ethnic surrealism, inspired by the ancestral culture of the Peruvian coast and mountains. Historian and former director of the National Museum of Peru, Arturo Jiménez Borja, summarized the richness of Angulo’s work with these words: “The paintings of Magno Angulo are constructed from the earth, heavens and waters of Peru. A profound love burns brilliantly throughout his work.”
